This is the first of 6 battles played as a collaborative campaign over 12 weeks. The players represent forces assembled by a Grand Inquisitor to incriminate and topple the ruler of Kandran, Lord Salan. The players have IG, Dark Angels, and Witch/Daemon hunters respectively. In this battle they were asked to bring a small (500pt) scout force to sweep the undercity for evidecne of Salan's treachery. They were allowed to enter the board from any edge. |
The players chose to deploy on a short board edge and sweep the city methodically looking for evidence of Lord Salan's treachery. This way, they would be in supporting positions if trouble arose. The first few rounds, they pushed forward, finding nothing in the nearest buildings. One unsafe structure collapsed, but the sisters within survived. The Dark Angels pushed ahead in their transports and were confronted with diseased mutants hiding in the next building they swept. The brave warriors easily crushed the mutants and scattered them. The next round, in an adjacent building they found another horde of mutants accompanied by a strange multi-firing weapon. The mutants were scattered by the armies' massed fire and wiped out by a timely charge by the IG, but not before they accounted for the lives of several Dark Angels with their terrible weapon. The Angels continued to blaze ahead, entering two more buildings and finding a ruined temple where the effigies of the Emperor had been replaced by effigies of Salan! As they filmed the damning proof, two units of plague marines burst forth from a hidden trap door, followed by a massive, rotting daemon prince. The shooting from these foul marines was nothing to the Dank Angels and their Chaplain and the only dead was a plague marine who cleansed himself with his own plasma pistol. The Dark Angels' guns erupted as they charged in and they pulled down more diseased marines, but the Prince proved too strong, killing the Chaplain and wiping out the squad. The remaining three plague marines slunk behind the building and began summoning daemonic reinforcements, who appeared near the IG and accounted for many of Teledan's finest guardsmen. The Daemon Prince flew out of the building and charged the Sisters. The prince was literally surrounded as the sisters piled in. He tore at them with his mighty claws, taking many down, but took wounds in return. In the meantime, the Plaguebearers decimated the guard. The last of the plague marines charged and wiped out the marines before them, even as the Sisters finally dragged down the Daemon Prince. Fearing further reinforcements, the Inquisitor ordered the armies to retreat with the evidence and the battle was over. |
